So secondly nomination rules. If you think you or a loved one would like one of these packs then you can nominate yourself or them by commenting on this blog or private emailing me on kirstietancock@icloud.com I could like you to include your full name, your age (must be 17+) your illness/condition which causes you to spend a lot of time in hospital and if you could tell me a bit about yourself and your condition. Also please leave a email address so I can contact you if you have won.
You can have any condition/illness this is not specific for cf or transplant patients, the only stipulation Is that you spend a lot of time in hospital, these packs are created for people who are having a long admission or in and out of hospital. perhaps a rehabilitation from an accident or a life long condition.
Please share this blog, the more nominations I get the better so I can find somebody who truly needs a smile put on the face. The deadline for nominations is the 1st of December as I hope them to go out before Christmas.
Best wishes and thank you to all those who donates to this project, I'm so proud of it and looking forward to the smiles it will create.

Hi Kirstie,
ReplyDeleteI did just write this but not sure if it sent so if you get it twice i apologise.
I would like to nominate my partner Charlie Williams for a survival pack. Charlie has severe brittle asthma and is often taken unexpectedly into hospital with severe attacks, even on a good day they come out of the blue. Shes been in hospital over 40 times in the past 2 years alone. Shes been in intensive care around 8 times and a few times been on ventilation. Not only does she have to deal with these unexpected admissions but shes also recently been diagnosed with avascular necrosis and steroid myopathy which she struggles with daily. Although shes a strong person its hard to keep her positive and relaxed through these admissions and i really believe a pack would help her. Thankyou for reading my nomination. Ive added her email incase she was to win.. charlottewilliams182@msn.com
Thankyou
Sophie
What a lovely idea! I don't have anyone to nominate but I thought i'd say hi. I have a 14 month old called Poppy with CF. She's doing well (everything crossed). I follow your story as well as Katie's. I live in the Barnstaple area. I think you're both amazing and a true inspiration :). Hope you're doing well. Becky xx
ReplyDeleteHi. My name is Lou, I have CF & CFRD and I attend Wythenshawe Hosp. I would like to nominate Sophie Jayne Wheeler, who is 20 and also has CF & CFRD. Sophie spends a lot of time in Wythenshawe Hosp at the moment to keep her in as good health as poss while she waits for her call for new lungs. Sophie is an inspiration and keeps smiling even when shes unwell. I would love her to receive one of your fab 'survival kits' to let her know just how special she is and how many people she has in her corner. Much luv and many thanks, Lou :-D x
ReplyDeleteHi. soz just relaised I didnt supply my email with regard to nominating Sophie Jayne Wheeler.....its louwakey@msncom. Again much luv and many thanks :-D x
ReplyDeleteHi Kirsty! Firstly, congratulations on your 2nd lung transplant!! :) You're amazing for what you've been through. My name is Shauna, I'm 21 and have CF, and had a liver transplant last year. I've come a long way since, but still spend a lot of time in hospital with my chest. I am in and out constantly on IVs,, just never seem to catch a break and sick of my life being spent in an institution.. the room I am in is facing a grey building and no light ever enters the room and I have hit some very low points in here at times. I see a visitor once a week if I'm lucky. I could really use of those packs to brighten up my day in here :) I think it's wonderful what you're doing and will put a smile on so many faces.
ReplyDeleteLove and best wishes ~ Shauna x

ReplyDeleteMy name is Shirley
I would Like to nominate my Nephew Paul Quinn, Paul is 23 and a CF sufferer, he is currently waiting on a double lung transplant. He is now on constant Oxygen and has been for the last year. He has just been taken back in with yet another infection, We are back down to Newcastle in a few weeks for him to be put onto the active list for a transplant. He is an amazing boy who has been through to much not just coping with his illness but he has lost so much in the last few years (3 family deaths including his mum and sister) He is the strongest boy I know. I love him to the moon and back anything I can do to put an extra smile on his face, I will do. He's a very special boy who's smile lights up a room. This is a very scary time as you will know, this would be a brilliant booster for him xxx

Hi Kirstie,
ReplyDeleteMy name is Melissa Crouse and I am nominating my best friend, Amanda Dooley. Amanda is truly my inspiration for life, so let me begin by apologizing in advance for such a lengthy response. :)
Amanda is twenty years old and desperately fighting for her life against Cystic Fibrosis. As she waits for a double-lung transplant, I am afraid to admit that our time is wearing thin. Amanda has been waiting since March of this year, and has had two dry runs since. The last one was as recent as October 27, so, as you could probably imagine, devastation has begun to set in. She can no longer maneuver without the use of a wheelchair, and is currently on oxygen 24/7. She spends two weeks in the hospital, every two weeks. When she is at home, she is often on IV antibiotics, which, among other things, denies her the possibility of a typical "twenty-year-old life". I think sometimes she forgets how strong she really is. Amanda is constantly giving to others, even despite her dire health circumstances, so a gift like this would help remind her of how special she truly is.
The darkest days are getting darker for Amanda and the people who love and care about her. There is nothing I would not do to put a smile on her face, and ease the pain of being victim to a hospital bed. After all, what would you do to save the life of someone you love?
Thank you for the consideration and the greatest congratulations on a successful transplant. It is people like you who provide the encouragement and faith necessary to endure this tough time.
Always,
Melissa Crouse
